Raja Natwarlal movie review: Emraan Hashmi’s charm fails to fire in a dull con film!

Though the film starts off well and performances from Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon are praiseworthy, the Emraan Hashmi starrer loses steam in the second half

What it’s about: It was touted as a crime-comedy film. Makers are now mixing genres in order to attract different audiences but the result is often disastrous. There was no comedy at all and crime is not what it should be. Raja (Emraan Hashmi) pulls small time cons with his partner Raghav (Deepak Tijori) a small time con artiste. He is in love with (Ziya) a bar dancer and in search for the last big con to rescue her from that murky world. Unfortunately in his bid to do so, he messes with the wrong man Vardha Yadav (Kay Kay Menon). His partner is killed and he is on the run. In desperation he turns to Yogi (Paresh Rawal) a retired ex-con to help him avenge his friends death and pull his biggest job yet. But everything goes wrong.

What’s good: It starts off well, the first con is pulled off deftly, and the film moves along briskly preparing you for the good movie experience but then it derails quickly. Had a brilliant supporting cast. Paresh Rawal is brilliant as ever. Kay Kay Menon is a delight to watch whether he is clobbering a poor soul with a bat, or when he finds himself poor, having oct every last penny.Humaima looks pretty and that is all required from her. Emraan seems to be going through the notions, including the smooching scenes.

What’s not: When you are making a con film, it has to be clever. You have to keep the audiences guessing. Unfortunately here, you guess what the next scene will be. You can predict it. The cons need to come at the viewer fast and furiously but that doesn’t happen here. The romance angle between Raja and Ziya does not blend well and acts like road blocks in the film that is already disappointing. Yogi is supposed to be the mastermind here..but Raja keeps doing his own thing, defeating the purpose and buildup to the Master Con.

The meeting was supposed to be a hush hush affair but soon the entire village was aware about it. A source from Chhattisgarh while talking to the portal revealed, “ Ranbir and Imtiaz came to Teejan Bai’s house recently and the entire village was waiting outside to get a glimpse of the two. Rabir and Imtiaz then saw her performance and left by 2 pm. Ranbir was warm and affectionate, he posed for cameras and signed autographs.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have certainly earned a spot in the “it couples” chart of B-town with their sizzling chemistry; films Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express being an evidence to support the statement. We expect the duo to pull off a similar stint yet again in the upcoming number. We state the obvious, but with SRK and Dippy coming together, there are bound to be some fireworks!

With Farah Khan being the director of the film and an ace dance choreographer, we are certain the mother of three would have used her creativity in putting forth a grand video alright. We can imagine the cast of the film, giving us some rather snazzy moves as a part of the dance competition they are participating in. We bet Indiawaale would be an extravaganza having a larger than life feel to it, a signature style venture by Ms Khan indeed!

All we need, is a rhythm divine

We expect the number to be an outright knockout with it’s swanky beats and a cathy melody. A section of the song which was seen in the trailer of the film, managed to make waves and stands as a highly anticipated one. With Vishal-Shekhar being the music composers for the venture, we bet the duo will create the Dard-e-Disco effect yet again.

They are ‘happy’ and they know it

Farah Khan’s musical numbers often showcase videos possessing a zestful and energetic vibe. With Indiawaale, we expect the filmmaker to put forth a number which successfully highlights the essence of patriotism topped with a positive feel, leaving the viewer entertained yet inspired. Let’s just say, we wish to see a happy-go-lucky song in its true sense!

Will the losers emerge as winners? 

We caught a sneak peak of Happy New Year’s plot through its trailer. With six losers aiming to rob a bank successfully while competing in a dance championship, we wonder if they would ultimately manage to pull of the tricky task. We would like to see the video showcasing certain robbery sequences, to get a hint of how exactly the team plans on getting their moolah. SRK and Dippy in a hatke avatar, now wouldn’t that be tempting to watch?

Buzz is that the actress will head to Galaxy to take darshan

Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan might not be lovers anymore, but that doesn’t stop the Dhoom 3actress from paying her respects to his Ganpati every year. Like last year, Katrina plans to visit Salman’s Ganpati at his Galaxy building and pay her respects. 

Kat is still close to Salman’s mother Salman Khan and his sisters Alvira and Arpita and she’s welcomed warmly ever year at the Khan house hold. A source reveals, “Katrina has been shooting round the clock for her song with Hrithik in Bang Bang. She has also been a bit under the weather, but she definitely plans to visit Salman’s Ganpati today (August 29, Saturday) to take darshan.”

Deepika Padukone promotes Finding Fanny in a Nikasha saree

Of late, Deepika Padukone has been cleaning up quite nicely in the fashion department. Be it the Forever 21 twee dress or the Stella McCartney look, DP has been nailing it at every promotional outing for Finding Fanny.

Yesterday, we saw pictures of her dancing with Amitabh Bachchan and Arjun Kapoor on the sets of KBC and were absolutely smitten by the effortless charm DP exuded in the Nikasha saree she wore to the game show.

The beige Nikasha saree on Deepika isn’t your typical six yards of grace. It has a gold sequinned panel with a peek a boo lamé effect in the front. The flowy blouse it is worn with is pretty unconventional on its own. We like the loose draping of the pallu on her as it goes in sync with the breezy look of the outfit. The sequined work on the pallu looks gorgeous.

She finished out the look with a pair of pearly earrings and a chunky ring. Undoubtedly, Deepika looks lovely in the Nikasha creation. Don’t you agree with us?
